Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government has sanctioned Rs 142.50 crore by way of mobilisation of advance loan to the Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam for setting up of two thermal units of 210 MW each at Parichha.

State energy minister Ramvir Upadhyay informed said here on Saturday that this amount had been released to the Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam with instructions to it to hand over the amount to Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) so that work on the project could be started soon. The project is targeted to be completed within next three years.

Mr Upadhyay said a cost of about Rs 1,425 crore would be incurred on construction of two units at Parichha. At present, the total installed capacity of the Parichha thermal power station is 220 MW. With the construction of these two units, the total capacity would go up to 640 MW.

He said that completion of this project would improve the power generation capacity of the state and would be an important step toward fulfiling the resolve of chief minister Mayawati.

The minister said in a statement issued that the state government would make efforts to convince the Power Finance Corporation to sanction 80 per cent of the project cost in place of 70 per cent as loan. Besides, efforts were being made to reduce the mobilisation advance being given to BHEL from 15 per cent to 10 per cent.
