Dubai : South Africa were on Tuesday fined for maintaining a slow over-rate during their 52-run defeat to Australia in the first Twenty20 international match in Melbourne on Sunday.

Match referee Ranjan Madugalle imposed the fine on the Johan Botha-led side after they were found to be one over short after time allowances were taken into consideration.

Botha was fined 10 per cent of his match fee while the rest of his teammates were docked five per cent of their earnings, the ICC said in a statement.
