Colombo: Sri Lanka off spinner Muttiah Muralitharan equalled the world record for most ODI wickets on Tuesday by taking his tally to 502.

The 36-year-old, playing in his 327th match, drew level with retired Pakistan fast bowler Wasim Akram's landmark in the third ODI against India.

Muralitharan, who also holds the world record for most Test wickets, had Yuvraj Singh caught to reach the mark.
