Chittagong: Skipper Mahela Jayawardene is set to make his 100th Test appearance when Sri Lanka take on Bangladesh in the second Test getting underway here on Saturday.

Lanka lead the series 1-0 but the hosts will go in with renewed vigour, especially after the way they made a valiant attempt at the 521-run chase in the fourth innings of the last match, posting 414 in reply.

Nonetheless, squaring the series will be easier said than done given that Ajantha Mendis is all set to get back to action. Meanwhile, Jaywardene is not only poised to make a century of Tests, Lanka’s leading run-getter is also closing in on another personal feat: He’s just 74 short of the 8000-run mark. “It has been an honour to play for Sri Lanka and I have said this before that I never expected to play 100 Tests when I started off,” Jayawardene said on the eve of the match.
