I’m not interested in India, says ‘angry’ Chappell

New Delhi: Former India coach Greg Chappell reacted angrily to Virender Sehwag's recent comments that the Australian betrayed the trust of players and said he has decided to cut all ties with Indian cricket.

In a recent interview, Sehwag had said that Chappell had betrayed the trust of the players by leaking information to the media and selectors and that he was not comfortable with the Australian.

"I am not interested in India. Not interested in Indian cricket," he was quoted by 'cricdb' website.

"You can check with Kiran More (what information I was sharing with him)", Chappell said. Kiran More was the chief selector during most of Chappell's tenure as coach.

"I am now not going to be associated with the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) also", he said.

The RCA had hired his services for its academy in Jaipur as consultant. He had also been entrusted with the task of spotting and grooming Twenty20 talent by IPL's Jaipur franchise, owned by Emerging media.

Chappell is now the new Head Coach of the Cricket Australia Centre of Excellence (COE) in Brisbane.

No regrets here

Chappell should have never been hired. He caused enough damage by squeezing out Ganguly as captain in a very insulting manner and was creating doubts about Tendulkar as well. I for one am very happy that he will no longer be in a position to decide who gets a chance to play for India.

Angry Chapell's remarks
by Prem Chowdry on 2009-01-25 09:40:14.245491+05:30
Chappell is past history. He succeeded in the primary task he was apparently hired for, ie to destroy the best captain India had for a long time; curiously, the best team India had for a long time, and had been an envy to some parochial foreigners, started to dive to a shameful depth during the period he was hired. Inspite of the cut-throat competition of today, our countrymen are generous and gullible; we trust people implicitly until they let us down. But we have learnt our lessons in this costly episode. Thank you Viru, our future Sachins,Sauravs and Kapils and their fellow players will wash their linen privately, and sort anything dirty behind closed doors ; managers and coaches can relax at that time with a beer or a lime and soda at the club bar.
