Malik said as captain he had a high success rate which shows team-mates were actually comfortable with him and there were no issues regarding lack of communication.
Pakistan coach Intikhab Alam and manager Yawar Saeed in a confidential report had termed Malik as a "loner" and "aloof" who lived in his own small world and didn't communicate with the players.
"We did not see any meaningful communication between players and captain other than his (Malik's) five-minute talk during the team meeting. We have also not noticed him spending quality time with the players, which a successful captain must," they had said in their report during the Senate hearing of the Standing Committee on Sports on Monday.
However, Malik, who heard the report read out at the Senate hearing refuted the observations of the coach and manager.
"The fact is that under my captaincy the team had a 80 per cent win record. In my tenure we had a high success rate. The players did respond to me as captain," Malik said.
"I always tried to make the players feel comfortable and tried to communicate with them," he added. Malik said it was not his fault that big teams didn't play in Pakistan last year. But whatever cricket we got since I became captain we won 80 per cent of our matches."
"I deserved a place in the team as a player if you look at my performances. I am disappointed at losing the captaincy but will continue to do my best even under Younis," Malik said.
