Ricky Ponting's team will open their domestic international programme with two tests against New Zealand in Brisbane and Adelaide before Daniel Vettori's side return home for their own domestic international programme.
New Zealand will head back for five one-day internationals and a Twenty20 international in early February, after Australia have completed a full programme against South Africa.
The first test against South Africa starts in Perth on Dec. 12, the second on Dec 26 in Melbourne and the third in Sydney on Jan 3, one day later than usual.
The two sides will then play two Twenty20 internationals before five one-dayers.
There is no triangular one-day tournament.
