Melbourne, January 29:: Cricket Australia wants to utilise the experience of Adam Gilchrist and will offer him some role in the country's cricketing set-up.

Peter Young, CA's general manager for public affairs said they were keen to work with Gilchrist and will talk to the outgoing cricketer to find a formal role for him.

"An Adam Gilchrist only comes along once in a lifetime, and we would be mad not to explore ways to keep him with us in some capacity," Young was quoted as saying in Sydney Morning Herald.

Young said Gilchrist would be given ample time to think before discussing something concrete.

"There is a fervent desire on our part to hold talks with him about a formal role within Australian cricket down the track, and we will be ready to talk whenever he is ready.

"The thinking is to give him a bit of time off to relax and have a think about things. We have discussed these kind of things for more than a year at a very high level, but they have very much been broad brush-strokes, with nothing really specific discussed or tabled."

The newspaper report added that the wicketkeeper has discussed with the CA, the prospect of working with junior cricketers in some capacity.

CA has already offered a part-time spin coaching position to the recently retired Shane Warne, and has confirmed it is holding talks with Glenn McGrath to engage him for a similar role with fast bowlers.
