Adelaide : The injury-ravaged South African cricket team was dealt another blow when Mark Boucher was ruled out of the remaining two matches of the one-day series against Australia, which also made a couple of changes to the squad for the fourth match in Adelaide on Sunday.

Boucher fractured his left toe after being hit by a Shaun Tait bouncer in the third one-dayer in Sydney.

"Mark Boucher's Australian tour came to an abrupt end at the weekend when X-rays revealed a fractured bone to his left big toe," Cricket South Africa said in a statement.

"Mark showed tremendous courage in batting for 45 minutes with the injury to get us home. The plan is now to get him ready for the first Test match against the Australians at the Liberty Life Wanderers Stadium in the last week of February," coach Mickey Arthur said.

"The position is complicated by the fact that there is also a displaced bone and Mark will be seeing an orthopaedic surgeon on Tuesday. He will stay with the team and fly home with the rest of the squad on Saturday," he added.

The South Africans named a 12-man squad for the fourth match with Boucher being replaced by batsman Vaughn van Jaarsveld. All-rounder Morne Morkel has been named the 12th man.

A final decision on whether Jacques Kallis, nursing an abdominal side strain, would be able to play as an all-rounder or only as a batsman will be taken on Monday morning.

Meanwhile, the Australians also have mounting injury problems and their leading bowler Nathan Bracken has been ruled out of Monday’s match due to a calf injury.

All-rounder Cameron White and paceman Ben Hilfenhaus have been pencilled into the playing XI for tomorrow. Nathan Hauritz has been named 12th man.

The South Africans lead the series 2-1.

The Teams:

Australia: Ricky Ponting (capt), Shaun Marsh, David Warner, Mike Hussey, David Hussey, Cameron White, Brad Haddin, James Hopes, Mitchell Johnson, Ben Hilfenhaus, Shaun Tait, Nathan Hauritz (12th man).

South Africa: Johan Botha (capt), Herschelle Gibbs, Hashim Amla, Jacques Kallis, AB de Villiers, JP Duminy, Neil McKenzie, Vaughn van Jaarsveld, Albie Morkel, Dale Steyn, Makhaya Ntini, Morne Morkel (12th man).
