'Why pick players left with a few yrs of career'

Pune, January 22:: Unfazed by the criticism over the one-day squad sans Saurav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid in some quarters, BCCI Chief Selector Dilip Vengsarkar has strongly defended the choice of players for the ODI series in Australia.

"We have to look ahead. What is the point in picking up some players whose career would last just a couple of years," Vengsarkar who was here for a function, told reporters on Monday night.

"I may or may not be the selector tomorrow. But we have to build up Team India with a futuristic projection and we have opted for the best blend of players in the current tour," Vengsarkar said.

He refrained from making any comment on the exclusion of Saurav Ganguly on queries from reporters.

Vengsarkar also noted that India's ICC ranking had improved from No 7 to No 2 since the present team of selectors had taken over.

This is a sad comment, coming from Vengsarkar. Ganguly and Dravid could have been retained although they could have been selectively chosen in the playing eleven, depending upon the match conditions.

Dude Vengi,Can you make your freaking mind up already? It was a fine balance of experience and youth for you not long ago. All of a sudden you dont want people with a couple or less years left in 'em? Cant think clearly? Pick a freaking straw and move on and dont dare going back like that dumb-wit More did.

it is a good thing to avoid players like ganguly laxman and dravid.the reason you said is satisfactory.are u brave enough to drop sachin from the team . remember one thing the players you dropped from the team are responsible for the descent perfomance against the mighty aussies and not your young guns like dhoni and yuvaraj.
