We're unhappy with the verdict: Ponting

Melbourne, January 31:: Ricky Ponting had a major say in ending the racism row involving Harbhajan Singh but the Australian skipper is furious that the Indian spinner escaped with a light punishment, media reports said.

Realising that there was no concrete evidence to sustain a racial slur charge on Harbhajan, Ponting made the decision to hammer a deal and Symonds reluctantly agreed to it, a report in Herald Sun claimed.

“We are unhappy with verdict, but we can’t change it,” the Australian skipper was quoted as saying.

Voicing his anger, Ponting said that the verdict has taken a “toll on Symonds and me”.

““Normal chit-chat between players will continue,” he added.

The Australians wanted Harbhajan should at least be handed a ban of two one-day games or one Test.

Ponting wanted Harbhajan to face justice as he had breached his pact with Symonds and was seethed in anger after the move backfired and the Indian spinner escaped a USD 3000 fine, the report said.

The report said Ponting also reacted angrily when the CA lawyer Brian Ward threatened to resign at the Adelaide Federal Court if the players didn't back his stance.

"Just fix it then," Ponting was understood to have said when emotions flared.

Australian Hornbags Cricketeers

I Love Ricky Ponty and Andrew Symonds. How's the Caste System going India? Beat up any Dalits lately? Taken any bribes lately? Raped any foreign female tourists lately?

With such an immature captain, is it any wonder the whole Australian team is a bunch of cry babies?

Indo - Australian cricket tour

It is a pity that Ponting can not have the cake and eat it too. He would have loved to see Harbhajan Singh face punishment and India face continuous defeats and that the ampires too play as the players and that too when Australia does not play well but history does not support him. Like many Australians he has a small mind which can not see the world and he forgets that it is a question of time he may be a part of BCCI preparing the Indian team for some world cup and who knows his words may be quoted against him at the time of selection and that BCCI would ignore this fact because of his brilliance in the field and excellent leadership qualities. India is a land of contradiction and it allows all types of opinions and it can not survive without contradictions and Ponting belonging to the world of excellent players should learn to respect the opposition since a large number of Australians contributed to the growth of Indian cricket and the same money invited the great players to come to India and adjust to the varied atmosphere and make it a major force in cricket and we are thankful to a large number of them and let us forget the past and live for a better future. However we are sure that you would one day change and become a part of India like million of Britishers who consider as their motherland and have a right even in its prosperity and we Indians welcome them with open hands.

by Rajju on 2008-02-03 17:38:42.677079+05:30
The best beat to get even with these jrks of Kangarus is "Pepole should not watch them playing." When they visit India people shold stay away from the watching the game either on TV or live on the stadium. Save money and het their fat pocket. As and Indian, I have decided not to watch these ediots.
