Tour is on, BCCI tells Cricket Australia

Sydney, January 8:: Indian cricket board, before it began its' emergency meeting in New Delhi, informed Cricket Australia (CA) that the tour would go ahead, according to team sources.

The Indian board softened its stance once controversial umpire Steve Bucknor was replaced by Billy Bowden and chief match referee Ranjan Madugalle was sent an SOS by the ICC to head for Australia and plaster over the cracks between the two sides.

The two opposing captains, Ricky Ponting and Anil Kumble, would be told in no uncertain terms that intemperate behaviour on the pitch or outside would not be tolerated from now on.

The BCCI has now agreed to fulfill its commitment and told CA that the meeting in New Delhi is only a formality, the sources said.

Accordingly, the visitors would now move to Canberra on Wednesday where a three-day game against ACT XI will begin from Thursday.

Meanwhile, Indians have pressed forward their complaint against left-arm spinner Brad Hogg for abusing Kumble during the final hours of the second Test.

ICC's Chief Executive Malcolm Speed has confirmed that Hogg would face a code of conduct charge in Perth.

The Indians have spent the last two days at their hotel in Sydney, refusing to leave for Canberra, till the issue of Harbhajan and Bucknor was dealt with quickly and firmly.

CNN-IBN and other Television spreading misinformation
by Ds and jack on 2008-01-09 04:02:44.004592+05:30
The view of CNN-IBN that we should not annull 2nd test because it would favor India just because few Indian players scored century.Promotion of loser mentality. We rose to make sure India did not want to play with injustice but BCCI has people of India think we won without anulling of 2nd test. Carry the loss on their shoulder of 2nd test because few players scored centuries. Why just bucknor is our and not benson.

Rush to take credit when the injury is still there.

CNN-IBN says Sachin Tendulkar sent SMS when decision to NOT go for 3rd match without Bhajji came from outside. In reality the Captain, Pawar ,Tendulkar and BCCI were moving on to 3rd test. Amazing how they all capture credit

Judge from South Africa
by Kaushik Kumar on 2008-01-09 03:09:04.83566+05:30
Dear Indian friends, even if you don't like it, I have to agree with Mike Procter. He was not born yesterday (15 September 1946 to be exact)in South Africa as White male. He has seen and done all types of verbal and non verbal abuses and kicking to colored people, starting with Mahatma Gandhi from his ancestors. He believes in unusual and exemplary punishment to colored people, going beyond the book of law and judicial obligations to keep colored people in check. With his vast experience, he read the criminal eyes of Harbhajan and after being convinced in his mind punished him beyond the scope of humanity. Long live South Africa and its history.

When terrorist attacks happen in this country, no body cares. No women are molested on streets, no body cares but for a stupid game, people come out onto the streets and protest like hell. Where are the priorities in this country? No wonder India always remain a developing nation. Shame on all of us.

Let Australia win 4-0 and Ponting 18 Tests

If we take our eyes off the Bucknor and monkey business for a moment, we will find world cricket is at cross roads today. ICC working is neither transparent nor democratic. It has not evolved in 100 years and serving the same purposes as it did 100 years ago but world has moved on. Today cricket is not played for sports but for money. ICC is dominated and controlled by a group of people to serve a group of people in the name of sports. If some outsider is loyal to serve this group of people, they are included in ICC as eye wash (without much say and power) and their appointment is based on their service capability to the goal of ICC masters.Other sports have evolved and are taking advantage of technology to make better decision on field but not cricket. Umpires and referees are selected by ICC to serve some groups better that other. Rules and regulations are obsolete in todays world and no attempt has been made to minimize human error and make the game more transparent as long as it serves its old purpose and abuse the word "human error" and some people are more equal than others. Not to move away from main focus of issues of ICC functioning in hand, I also wonder that in cricketing world, India may be the only country, which needs a full time Cabinet Minister to be President of its cricket team, why?

If the Indians are so upset by these foul-mouthed opponents, why are they offering them fat contracts to play Indian Premier League? Why are Indian companies courting them? It's high time the Indians started to play the game on their own terms.-PETER ROEBUCK There are many other players from other countries. Good ones WHY Australians!!!!!
