New Delhi, July 14:: Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Asif tested positive for banned substances during this year's Twenty20 Indian Premier League (IPL), organisers said on Monday.

"The Indian Premier League compared the result from the WADA-approved laboratory in Switzerland with the data collected by IDTM, the Sweden-based independent agency which organised the anti-doping testing in accordance with World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) standards, to confirm the player in violation is Mr Mohammad Asif," the IPL said in a statement.

The lucrative league was organised in April-May.

He is already doubted for possessing the banned substance when he was in dubai. i do not know - how all of a sudden - he got cleared from dubai authorities. now, it is proved one more time that he is culprit. now, it is time for us to ban players from permenantly doing such things. moreover, such short version of game needs more energy. moeny follows the players. so, these can happen in future as well. so, try to ban on IPL itself! to save the game

Ban game for 1 player?
by Eternal Truth on 2008-07-15 00:37:34.171475+05:30
Out of hundred players participating in this game, if one is caught for drugs, why the whole game shall be banned? If Asif was caught for routine one day games, would you recommend to ban one dayers too and go to test crickets only?
