Pak players should not play in IPL: Shiv Sena

Agencies

Posted online: Friday , May 16, 2008 at 1622 hrs IST

Mumbai, May 16:: Hours before the crucial IPL match between Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders, the Shiv Sena on Friday renewed its attack on cricket players from Pakistan in one of the teams.

"They (Pakistanis) are the enemies of the entire nation and we have been opposing their playing here for many years now," Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray told reporters in Mumbai.

When asked about the party's plan of action for the match this time, Thackeray limited himself to saying, "Let the others speak out against them as well."

Over the last two decades, Sena has been opposing Pakistani teams and has indulged in tactics like digging cricket pitches at venues before the match due to which Mumbai has not hosted a single match between arch rivals India and Pakistan for many years now.

Hi Everyone,It is disturbing to have groups that will alter the image of india as a state that would bear groups like shiv sena RSS, VHP, BJP.They are bad stigma on the name of indian democracy, this country needs to develop and as long as we have such groups within our country who care less for the country and are based more on terrorism. This is pure terrorism and still the goverment capable of doing everything is still looking quite on this disturbing forces within the nation. I would say these type of parties based on religion cast and creed should be banned for ever and there leaders should be held accountable for all the hatred that is sworn in the hearts of innocent nationals of this country.Every citizen of this country is respectable equally and we have to honor everyone in equal way without building barriers among ourselves and uproot such forces that becomes a source of such terrorism and speration within our country.Jai Hind..

Hate mongers RSS, Shiv Sena and BJP collecting funds overseas in the name of teaching adivasis and forcibly thrusting hinduism on them. Wake up 'World', RSS/ShivSena are terrorist organizations operating within India. Investigate their affairs. Stop them before they massacre any more in the name of democracy.

SHIV SENA AND MNS ARE DIGGING THEIR OWN GRAVES: SURELY THEIR FUNERAL WILL BE ATTENDED BY MILLIONS
by DEEPALI NANDWANI on 2008-05-18 00:42:25.496823+05:30
SHIVAJI Park, at the heart of Mumbai, is the nursery of Indian cricket. Legends like Sunil Gavaskar, Ajit Wadekar, Subhash Gupte and Sachin Tendulkar have grown up playing cricket on its sprawling grounds. Most residents of the buildings surrounding Shivaji Park have played cricket either in the park or in the narrow gullies that crisscross the area. Ironically, Shivaji Park and Dadar, its neighbouring area, are also Shiv Sena strongholds. The residents of these areas were once the biggest supporters of the Sena and its 'son of the soil' ideology. No longer. When crazed Sainiks dug up the Ferozshah Kotla Stadium's cricket pitch in Delhi or stormed into the Mumbai office of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, beat up its staff, and smashed the cricket trophies, they did not realise they were alienating their own support base.

WHAT KIND OF DEMOCRACY IS IT WHERE THE VOICE OF MILLIONS DO NOT COUNT AGAINST THE VOICE OF 3 GOONS?
by DEEPALI NANDWANI on 2008-05-18 00:32:27.125087+05:30
Shiv Sena's rabble-rousing against the Pakistani cricket team, its pig-headed insistence on not allowing Pakistani cricketers to play in India and its strong-arm tactics have shocked the middle class Maharashtrians, for whom cricket is more than just a game. Anger against the party they once rooted for is obvious. Nilesh More was a student of the Balmohan Vidya Mandir, Tendulkar's alma mater and captain of the under-14 and under-16 cricket teams of the Bengal Club. He wonders why Thackeray is bringing politics into a game they all love so passionately. Ashish Wadekar who captained the Balmohan Vidya Mandir's cricket team, says: "My parents were Sena supporters. My kaka was a member of the Shiv Sena. But now they are embarrassed by what is happening. They say the Sena has gone too far by doing things like breaking up the BCCI office." And what does he feel about it? "I don't know," he shrugs. "I only hope that the cricket match takes place. We were looking forward to watching it on TV."
