No question of Oz tour being called off: BCCI

Mumbai, January 12:: India's cricket board has withdrawn its threat to pull out of the current Australian tour if a ban on Harbhajan Singh was not overturned by the International Cricket Council.

"There is no question of the tour being called off," board spokesman Rajiv Shukla quoted President Sharad Pawar as saying on Saturday.

"He (Pawar) said the two boards intend to maintain good relations as there is no problem with the two," Shukla said.

Harbhajan was banned for three Tests after being found guilty of making a racist remark to Australian all-rounder Andrew Symonds during last week's controversial second Test in Sydney.

However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and its players have denied any racist remark was made by Harbhajan, with the board threatening to pull out unless the player was exonerated on appeal.

The ICC has appointed New Zealand High Court judge John Hansen as appeals commissioner but has yet to set a date for the hearing.

Pawar has said the Indian board would like the appeal to be heard before the ODI series in Australia starts on Feb 3.

India is to play in a triangular series in Australia, also involving Sri Lanka, next month after the conclusion of the four-Test series.

The BCCI is foolish and is behind money, nomatter how much Indian cricketers are humiliated. Shame on these politicians for whom money matters more than Indians and India's pride. Call off the tour immediately.

BCCI Babus
by Pained Indian Cricket Fan on 2008-01-14 03:27:26.169025+05:30
From having the hearing before the Perth test, BCCI is now will to accept having the hearing before the ODI series. Where are the men with conviction in BCCI? Wish Dalmia was back, Powar et al are completely Power-less. Remember it was the same Ponting that had insulted Powar only a few months ago. Only thing this BCCI is good at is red-tape, like cutting down Vengasarkar's fair earnings by writing newspaper columns. This BCCI board is nothing but a bunch of Babus - no wonder they can't speak up to the Sahibs. Shame on you BCCI!!!

Are the gutless BCCI officials still living in the backdrop of colonial enslavement? The white dominated ICC and the anglo-cartel are still calling the shots? BCCI has to understand -The new generation of India gives two hoots about the superiority complex the angloes may hold about themselves by dominating the umpiring ranks and the ICC decision-making proceses. The Young India cares not for the submissive and insult swallowing gutless officials and players of the past. And what is Sharad Pawar upto? Apart from humiliating the country with his backflip, is he trying to project himself as some sort of Cricket-Statesman? Kick him out of the BCCI! We need some young blood.Next: Boycott all the Companies who sponsor Aussie players, punch them hard where it hurts the most - that is the only language these m**keys understand - and that includes the BCCI.
