Let's talk, Kumble tells Ponting

Canberra, January 10:: Indian skipper Anil Kumble will speak to his Australian counterpart Ricky Ponting to ease the tension between the two sides after an acrimonious week of charges and counter-charges.

"It's important that Ricky and I get together and speak," said Kumble.

"We are equal partners in ensuring that cricket is played in the right spirit, and I'm sure moving forward everybody can stick to that," he added.

Ponting, on his part, said he would do all he can to make sure that his "guys are remembered as being good people as well as great cricketers."

Kumble, who was a dejected man after a string of umpiring howlers led to his side's 122-run defeat in the second Test, said the visitors have put the bitterness behind and were ready to move on.

"On behalf of my team, I can assure we will play it in the right spirit," he said.

Meanwhile, Ponting, stung by the widespread criticism of his world champion team's alleged lack of sportsmanship, said he was willing to "address" issues which may have caused offence.

"I don't think anyone wants the way Australia plays cricket to change. Everyone likes to see a tough, uncompromising brand of cricket.

"But if there are areas in our game to improve, then obviously we need to address that," he said.

Charging Harbhajan racist for his alleged remark of Monkey to Symonds is outragious and Mike Proctor pronouncing Harbhajan guilty was all the more unbelievable. Being from South Africa, Mike should have known what racisism is all about. Perhaps he has forgotten too soon the racism his own kilns practised during aparthied era. Ausies and Mike must be out of their minds to term monkey remark as racist. Calling a person by a four letter perhaps is in order for Ausies. Let us go over the plethora of muck uttered by Ausies and Mike's countrymen and which is available on record and then decide what is racist. Ausies ahve gone scot free so far for all the unpalatable uttered by them, which they term as friendly but offensive if done by others.

What is the use of talking to Ponting? He would tell Kumble, "If you doubt my integrity/sincerity, you shouldn't be standing/sitting here."
