Kotla pitch fiasco: Jaitley rubbishes Azad's claims

ANI

New Delhi: The Delhi and Districts Cricket Association (DDCA) President Arun Jaitley has responded strongly to the blame put up by former cricketer Kirti Azad that he was manhandled in the DDCA meeting that was called to discuss Sunday's one-day international fiasco.

Jaitley said, "No event like the one described by Azad took place in the DDCA meeting."

Azad had earlier claimed that he was allegedly attacked for asking questions related to the issue.

Azad, who is also a member of the DDCA, said, "People were manhandled and I was attacked inside the meeting. People have a full right to raise questions related to Sunday's fiasco," he added.

Former cricketer Chetan Chauan said, "Azad is lying and no event like this occurred in the DDCA meet."

Azad had said members of the DDCA are not professional and are divided into two proxy groups.

On Sunday, the fifth One-Day International (ODI) between India and Sri Lanka was called off at the Ferozshah Kotla Stadium in Delhi due to the poor pitch conditions.

Common Cricket

Dear editor I think there is far too much cricket being played and being watched in India. Of course sport is important, but provision for 3 square meals a day for 40% of the population should take priority. The middle class and others in India are sooooo distracted by cricket and Bollywood, they have forgotten to prioritise. Imperialist's game is given godly status

Politician in sports
by Rajesh Sharma on 2009-12-29 17:48:21.07116+05:30
It is high time that politician should refrain themselves from sports. Arun Jaitley is promoted as opposition leader in Rajaya shabha let he concentrate there and resign from DDCA. Sameway Sarad Pawar should spend more time in Agriculture ministry and resolve high prices of foodgrains. Let sportsman handle the feild work of sports. There are more capable MBA's in the country to handle administration part. There should be transparancy in responisblities authorities.

Arunlal should know Jaitley is not the curator of the pitch and he is doing wonderful job in parliament and politics. As Preesident of DCA he cannot be blamed for every thing
