Kanpur, November 20: : Green Park pitch curator Shiv Kumar had to wait outside the stadium till wee hours on Thursday as he was denied entry to the stadium, where he stays, by the security personnel despite showing his identity card.

Kumar was returning from the Indian team hotel late on Wednesday night and was stopped at the gate of the stadium by the policemen.

He showed his identity card and told the security men manning the stadium for the third one-dayer between India and England that he stays inside the stadium but to no avail.

Kumar had to wait outside the stadium for three hours before he was allowed to go inside in the wee hours with some senior police officials intervening into the matter. In another incident on Thursday, police resorted to lathi-charge to disperse the crowd just as the match started as some spectators, who claimed to have tickets in their possession, denied entry.

The spectators, who were standing in queue since early hours, became impatient and in the ensuing chaos the cops had to resort to a mild lathi-charge in front of Gate number 4 and 7, injuring a handful of people.
