Bhajji in soup over making monkey gesture?

Agencies

Posted online: Monday , March 03, 2008 at 0941 hrs IST

: Harbhajan Singh could be in trouble with the ICC after he reportedly made monkey gestures towards the crowd during India's victory in the first tri-series final in Sydney on Sunday.

According to Sydney Morning Herald, Harbhajan apparently motioned as if to scratch his armpits with both hands in the same manner fans did to taunt Andrew Symonds in India last year.

One spectator said Harbhajan also spat towards the crowd after they called him "a wanker".

"He definitely made the monkey gestures and he spat towards us. It was a bit disgraceful really, especially after what happened here in the Test match with Symonds,” the spectator told the newspaper.

"There are a lot of young people sitting here and it was inappropriate. He is a role model to a lot of people. If he wants respect he has to treat others with respect.

India's team manager Bimal Soni, however denied Harbhajan made such a gestures.

Sunday’s alleged incident continued the drama that has characterised India’s tour Down Under. The incident allegedly occurred just 10 minutes after Harbhajan dismissed nemesis Matthew Hayden, who called him an "obnoxious little weed" in a radio interview just a few days back.

Ausseeis behavior
by C R Sharma on 2008-03-03 10:04:17.946962+05:30
The Austrialns have no civilised behavior after what Haden has called Harbhajn "obnoxious weed". Harbhajan also should behave more maturely and should not get provoked by them, ignor and concentrate on the game. What was be the behaviors of Sachin and Brat Lee when the ball hit on Sachin`s shoulder. This shows the real sprit of the game and fine character of both players. Let younger players learn from Sachin and Dravid.

Scratching

Perhaps evidence should be gathered, in anticipation of an ICC charge, of people in Harbajan's hometown scratching themselves in that manner. If Hogg can stick his tongue out most of the time, why can't the poor boy have a good scratch?

To Hell with ICC
by Ganapathy on 2008-03-03 09:38:21.214362+05:30
I dont know what is there in the minds of the Ausssies. Do they want that people should take whatever they say and behave and should not reciprocate? Even the ICC is very rude against the Asians, which we people had accepted earlier (Dont forget that this had happened to our Sachin too) and now the statistics are being referred to confirm that Indians are generally a worst behaved people on field.
