Mumbai, July 22: : The Cricket Board is yet to receive application forms from the government for sending its recommendations for this year's Arjuna awards, BCCI sources said on Tuesday.

"We are yet to receive application forms from the government, so where's the question of us recommending any names for Arjuna awards," BCCI sources reacted to queries on the issue.

As per the normal course the BCCI receives the application forms from the government and then decides whom to recommend for the Arjuna awards, they said.

"We have recommended so far three names for other awards - Mahendra Singh Dhoni for Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award, coach V S Patil for Dronacharya and (former Test cricketer) Chandu Borde for Dhyan Chand (Lifetime Achievement award)," they explained.

Till date a total of 42 men and women cricketers, including physically challenged Anjan Bhattacharya, have been conferred with the Arjuna since its inception in 1961.

Harbhajan Singh, in 2003, and Anjum Chopra, in 2006, were the last male and female cricketers who received the Arjuna awards.

The award carries a cash prize of Rs 3 lakh, a bronze statuette of the mythological archer and a scroll of honour.
