Aus still wary of losing focus on India

Sydney, January 3:: Australia may be just one shy of equalling the world record of 16 consecutive Test wins, but speedster Brett Lee on Thursday said the team was not wavering in its focus against the Indians at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

"We don't want to lose our focus. It's important we go out and enjoy ourselves in the middle and try to do our best. If we play well and enjoy, we might still see the 16th Test win happen," Lee said after India finished the second day at 216 for three in reply to the hosts 463.

VVS Laxman was the player largely responsible for the Indian fightback and Lee was lavish in his praise for the stylish Hyderabadi batsman.

"He has made a habit of scoring well against Australia and we all hold him in a very high esteem. He batted brilliantly in the middle."

However, he noted that Laxman and Dravid, who made 53 in a second wicket stand of 175, were reprieved by wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist.

"Yeah, he (Gilchrist) dropped a few but everyone can have an off-day. Like a batsman or a bowler, even a wicketkeeper can have an off day.

"But I am sure he wouldn't be thinking a lot about it tonight and come back to do well tomorrow," the fast bowler said.

Sachin Tendulkar would be looking for a big score on Friday and Lee was looking forward to the duel on the third day.

"Tendulkar is a brilliant batsman, perhaps in the top two or three in the world. I have always looked forward to testing myself against him and am looking forward for tomorrow," he said.

The Test has been mired with several umpiring blunders but Lee stood up for the officials saying the mistakes should be treated as human errors.

"So much is being said about it but I really feel that it all evens out. Some days I find batsmen being reprieved after they have nicked me and on other days they are given out when they haven't played me. It all balances out in the end," he reasoned.

crap Dravid

I am still not convinced with Dravid, I really don't think there wouldn't be any difference between openers and no 3 batsman, situations like today when laxman played at no 3. But as a batsman Dravid took 160 balls to score 53 (out on no ball and almost 3 chances in it). But media and pundits are giving pressure to the team that he should play at no 3 what could he do when he is out of form for almost a year. It is time to bring Sehwag instead of Jaffer or Dravid.

Indian side will not file complaint
by Jack on 2008-01-03 21:44:30.902853+05:30
Indian Management will not file complaint against the Symond decisionAUZ have bribed. Two easy LBWs to for Kumble. Dropped catches for Dravid and Laxman to boost them. WHAT MORE BRIBES Are needed for Seniors? It should secure 10-20 more innings for Senior within Indian side.I don't think the new generation of young bowlers would have chance if Sresant, Zaheer and Munaf were well. As far Ishant is concerned they already have already recalled VRV. There is no consistent training or support for youngsters if they don't belong to a cartel.

Its not even.

It doesn't reason out when the third umpire fails to judge a stumping. I'm sure the third umpire is either a patriotic Australian cricket fan or has a very poor training in seeing the video replays. If Symonds was given out when the replays showed clearly he was, Australia would have probably been sent packed for less than 250. That would have given India a huge advantage to win the test. Explain that to us Mr. Lee.
