Australia may have finished the penultimate day with a slight edge over the visitors but Ganguly said much would depend on how India bowl on the fifth day.
"We will have to wait and see how we bowl tomorrow (Sunday). We will take it as it comes," the former skipper said after the fourth day's play.
Australia have a lead of 213 with six second innings wickets in hand. Mike Hussey (87) and Andrew Symonds (14) were the unbeaten batsmen when bad light finally ended play on a rain-interrupted day.
The SCG pitch was still a good one but spinners were coming into the game more as the pitch wore out.
"It is a good track, which is helping the spinners quite a bit now. That is normal for a fourth or fifth day wicket," Ganguly said.
The racial abuse charges levelled against Harbhajan Singh have cast a cloud on the match but Ganguly said the Indian team was not distracted by the controversy.
"We have not been affected by that and there is no tension in the team. In fact, I did not know what had happened till this morning," he said.
On Harbhajan's prolonged and spectacular celebration after yet again removing Ricky Ponting, Ganguly seemed amused.
"Well he ran and ran. He almost went into the dressing room!
"He's a character, a tough cricketer, who is very competitive. He would give his best, whether he is batting, bowling or fielding."
The left-hander was disappointed after throwing his wicket away in the Indian innings when he looked good for a hundred.
"I missed a big one here and did not sleep well last night.
"I have been playing well since my comeback in the team and have been consistent. If you are playing well, age should hardly matter," Ganguly added.
